This listing is for ONE rough calcite and franklinite specimen (A/B/C) from Sterling Hill Mine, New Jersey.
A: 3" x 2.5" x 1.5" - 8.01 oz (227 g)
B: 2.5" x 1.5" x 1.5" - 5.50 oz (156 g)
C: 3" x 2" x 1" - 5.47 oz (155 g)
They have very minor traces of sphalerite crystals.
Calcite: white under daylight, fluoresces orange under SW/LW UV light.
Sphalerite: glittery brown under daylight, fluoresces blue, orange, and pink under LW UV light.
Franklinite: black under daylight, non fluorescing under UV light.
This specimen was photographed using a 36 watt shortwave ultraviolet lamp, and a longwave UV light. The pictures have not been retouched.
You can decorate your space with this accent display piece or add it to your personal mineral collection. This specimen was self collected at Sterling Hill mine in Ogdensburg, NJ.
*You will need a true filtered Shortwave UV light in order to see the fluorescence shown in the pictures. A Longwave lamp will show the sphalerite fluorescence, but the calcite will be less vibrant.
Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm.
Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UVA.
