This rare fluorescent crystal specimen contains hackmanite, and richterite. This specimen fluoresces bright orange and pink under longwave (LW) UV light, and pink/purple/pale peach under shortwave (SW) UV light. This piece has a decent amount of tenebrescence (it can be seen on the 4th picture and video).
Approximate Dimensions: 1.25" x 1" x 0.75"
Weight: 0.586 oz (16.62 g)
The first picture was taken under LW UV light, the second was taken with a SW UV light, and the fourth was taken under normal daylight.
This specimen is from Sar-e Sang, Koksha Valley , Badakhshan, Afghanistan.
One of the reasons why hackmanite is so unique and rare is because it is "tenebrescent." This means that under daylight, hackmanite appears to be a light pink/purple color, but when submitting it to a UV light (and taking it away), then the hackmanite shows a deep/dark purple color under daylight. This effect only lasts for a few minutes/hours and the effect can be repeated over and over again. Hackmanite is one of the only crystals with this characteristic in the world! And the extremely bright fluorescence also makes this crystal very desirable.
