*You will need a true filtered Shortwave (SW) UV light or a Longwave (LW) UV light in order to see the fluorescence shown in the pictures*
*Regular black lights, purple lights, or blue lights don't usually work for fluorescent minerals, so make sure you use the proper indicated UV light*
*Please keep in mind that the higher the UV light's wattage is, the brighter the fluorescent reaction will be*

This specimen contains fluorescent zincite (VERY RARE because zincite usually does not fluoresce) , willemite, calcite, and franklinite.
A longwave UV light will show the zincite (yellow) fluorescence, and some of the calcite (red) and willemite (green).
A shortwave light will NOT show the yellow zincite fluorescence, but the willemite (green), and calcite (red) will be brighter.

Zincite: red/orange under daylight, fluoresces yellow (VERY RARE) under LW UV light.
Willemite: brown/white under daylight, fluoresces neon green under SW/LW UV light.
Calcite: white under daylight, fluoresces orange under SW/LW UV light.
Franklinite: black under daylight, non fluorescing under UV light.

This specimen was photographed using a Longwave Convoy C8 light (first picture and ending of video) , and a 36 watt filtered Shortwave ultraviolet lamp (second picture and beginning of video). The pictures have not been retouched.
You can decorate your space with this accent display piece or add it to your personal mineral collection. This specimen was self collected at Sterling Hill mine in Ogdensburg, NJ.

*You will need a true filtered Shortwave UV light in order to see the fluorescence shown in the pictures. A Longwave UV light will show some fluorescence but not the best.

Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm.
Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UVA.
