This listing is for ONE small tumbled fluorescent hardystonite and willemite specimen (A, B, or C) from Franklin, New Jersey.
*You will need a filtered Shortwave (SW 254nm) UV light in order to see the best fluorescent colors shown in the pictures.
*Regular black lights, purple lights, or blue lights don't usually work for fluorescent minerals, so make sure you use the proper indicated UV light*
*Please keep in mind that the higher the UV light's wattage is, the brighter the fluorescent reaction will be*
This specimen was photographed using a 36 watt shortwave (254nm) uv light, and a C8 longwave (LW 365nm) Convoy ultraviolet flashlight.
-Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm and are also called UV-C. (254 nm are recommended)
-Midwave lights have a spectrum of 280-315 nm and are also called UVA-B (310 nm are recommended)
-Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UV-A. (365 are recommended)
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about fluorescence or fluorescent lights.
*Please keep in mind that exposure to UV light is dangerous. We recommend the use of protective goggles and gloves (or wearing sunscreen in the hands) when handling minerals under UV light*
