This listing is for ONE fluorescent scapolite and prehnite specimen that is about 1.5" long approximately. .
These crystals are from Saint Michel de Wentworth in Quebec, Canada (a new location discovered by a friend).
These crystals are white/grey color under daylight, and they fluoresce yellow and possibly blue color under filtered Longwave (365nm) UV light. They also fluoresce orange and yellow colors under Mindwave (MW 310nm) UV lights. Super interesting Midwave fluorescence!!!
*Regular black lights, purple lights, or blue lights DON'T usually work for fluorescent minerals, so make sure you use the proper indicated UV light*
These specimen were photographed using a Convoy C8 Longwave (365nm) UV flashlight and an Engenious Designs Midwave 310nm-314 nm UV flashlight.
-Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm and are also called UV-C. (254 nm are recommended)
-Midwave lights have a spectrum of 280-315 nm and are also called UV-B (310-314 nm are recommended)
-Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UV-A. (365 are recommended)
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about fluorescence or fluorescent lights.
*Please keep in mind that exposure to UV light is dangerous. We recommend the use of protective goggles and gloves (or wearing sunscreen in the hands) when handling minerals under UV light*
