Rare Blue Terlingua PHOSPHORESCENT CALCITE. Pink and Blue Longwave and shortwave (Sw / Lw) Fluorescent mineral from Terlingua, Texas.

This large calcite crystal has a white/pink color under daylight, and it fluoresces blue color under filtered Shortwave UV light (photographed with a 36 watt shortwave 254nm uv light). And it fluoresces a pale pink under Longwave UV light (photographed using a Convoy C8 Longwave 365nm UV light)
This calcite has a blue phosphorescence (after glow) when using a SHORTWAVE UV LIGHT ONLY. Very rare phenomenon and a reason why Calcite from this location is world famous and sought after by collectors.

*You will need a filtered Shortwave (SW) UV light in order to see the blue fluorescence and phosphorescence (after glow) shown in the pictures. With a filtered Longwave (LW) UV light it will look pink (there is NO phosphorescence with a longwave light).

*Regular black lights don't usually work for fluorescent minerals, so make sure you use the proper indicated UV light*
*Please keep in mind that the higher the UV light's wattage is, the brighter the fluorescent reaction will be*

This specimen was photographed using a filtered Convoy C8 Longwave (LW) UV flashlight, and a 36 watt filtered shortwave UV light.

-Shortwave lamps have a range of 200-280 nm and are also called UV-C. (254 nm are recommended)
-Midwave lights have a spectrum of 280-315 nm and are also called UV-B (310-314 nm are recommended)
-Longwave lights have a spectrum of 315-400 nm and are also called UV-A. (365 nm are recommended)
