This one of a kind mineral specimen from Trancas, Mexico features pink opal, fluorescent chalcedony, and quartz. Under a filtered shortwave (254 nm) or midwave (310-314 nm) UV light, this piece fluoresces vibrant green (with small pink midwave pink fluorescence that could be calcite).
✦ UV Requirements:
A true filtered Shortwave UV light (sw 254nm) is needed to see the strong fluorescence shown in the photos. Regular black lights will not show any fluorescence.
If your UV light isn’t as strong as the ones we used for photography, the fluorescence may appear dimmer or slightly different. Brightness and color intensity depend on the wattage and quality of your UV light.
